With the help of a scanner, fast reading of barcode data is possible, and immediate identification of the cardholder by the EDP system can be achieved. The type of barcode is defined by your system supplier depending on the software used.

The illustration shows the two optical options for integrating a barcode on a card. On the left, you see the open barcode, and on the right, there is a blocker over the barcode, which serves as copy protection.
The barcode can be applied both above and below the laminate.
The decision whether to apply it above or below the laminate depends on the card readers used. For swipe readers, production under laminate is generally recommended to ensure longer durability of the barcode. For mobile barcode readers, such as scanner guns or handheld scanners, production above the laminate may already be sufficient.
